Job Summary:
The Roads Surveyor is responsible for conducting land and road surveys to ensure accurate measurements for road construction, maintenance, and infrastructure projects. The role involves using surveying instruments and software to establish control points, set out alignments, verify levels, and provide essential data to support design and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct topographic, boundary, and level surveys for road and infrastructure projects.
Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control points for roadworks.
Set out road alignments, centerlines, profiles, and cross-sections according to design drawings.
Use total stations, GPS, and other modern surveying instruments to collect accurate data.
Prepare survey reports, drawings, and as-built documentation.
Verify accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
Collaborate with engineers, site supervisors, and contractors to ensure design specifications are met.
Monitor and record progress of road construction to ensure compliance with plans and tolerances.
Ensure all survey instruments are properly maintained and calibrated.
Comply with health, safety, and environmental standards on-site.
Qualifications and Skills:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, or related field.
Minimum [3–5] years of experience in road or infrastructure surveying.
Proficient in operating Total Station, GPS (RTK), and AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software.
Strong knowledge of road construction methods and geometric design principles.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Valid UAE driving license (preferred, if applicable).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
Physically fit to perform field survey tasks (walking long distances, standing for extended periods, carrying equipment, etc.).
