We are looking for a talented and passionate News Writer to join our team at SASSA-Status.Web.ZA on a remote basis. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply familiar with South African news, particularly related to social services, government policies, and economic updates. As a News Writer, you will be responsible for keeping our audience informed and engaged with up-to-date, relevant news on SASSA and related topics.
- Write a minimum of 30 unique news articles per month focused on SASSA-related topics, social services, and current events impacting South Africans.
- Keep up with current news trends in South Africa, including social welfare updates, government announcements, economic changes, and any significant updates relevant to our readers.
- Deliver well-researched, high-quality, and engaging content that aligns with our editorial standards.
- Ensure accuracy and relevance in all news stories.
- Collaborate with the editorial team for feedback and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of South African current affairs, especially social welfare and governmental updates.
- Excellent command of written English with exceptional grammar and editing skills.
- Proven experience in news writing, journalism, or a related field (experience in covering South African news is a plus).
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a remote environment.
- Reliable internet connection and availability for virtual team meetings as needed.
